ABOUT INDIA

India is one of the worlds top five industrialized nations with a population exceeding 1.1 billion. It has one of the world’s fastest growing economies and is regarded by the World Economic Forum as having tremendous potential.

The Indian Education System employs some 3 million teachers and provides primary education for 150 million children. In higher education there are nearly 250 university-level institutions and more than 8,000 affiliated colleges covering every conceivable subject form the Arts to Space Research. The Indian sciences, engineering and medical university faculties alone annually add another 220,000 graduates to this highly educated and skilled community.

It is estimated that in the year 2002, around 1.5 million students attended an educational establishment outside of their home country with more than 100,000 coming from India. Universities wishing to attract these students must be proactive in their marketing approach. Whilst the global number of students increases, so do the number of institutions seeking to recruit foreign students.

The Indian Government, conscious of the fact that many of its brightest students will go abroad is continuing to invest heavily in its already highly subsidized higher education system and is itself encouraging the recruitment of students from other developing countries.

Such investment enhances the prospects for educational equipment and training aid suppliers. In addition to selling their products and services, the exhibition will provide numerous opportunities for exhibitors to connect with local Universities and colleges for networking opportunities.

Improved education is a major priority and constitutional commitment for the Indian Government.
